Homes Damaged in Newfoundland as Post-Tropical Cyclone Fiona Hits Canada's Atlantic Coast

Post-tropical cyclone Fiona brought wind gusts of nearly 110 mph, heavy rainfall and storm surges to parts of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on September 24, according to the Canadian Weather Service.

Wreckhouse, a small town on the southern coast of Newfoundland, saw wind gusts reach nearly 110 mph (177 km/h) combined with a rainfall total of over 2.65 inches (67.2 mm).

Nearby Port aux Basques saw its water level rise 2.73 metres, exceeding a previous recorded of 2.71 metres from 2017, the Canadian Weather Service said.

Footage posted by Pius Scott shows the torrid conditions in the town of Isle aux Morts, located down the coast from Wreckhouse and Port aux Basques. Properties can be seen damaged along the seafront of the town.
