Home and Away's season finale featured several high-stakes cliffhangers in November, leaving viewers to wonder about the fates of some popular characters.

Mia (Anna Samson) and Chloe Anderson (Sam Barrett) were at the centre of the biggest drama after a showdown with Summer Bay newcomer Matthew Montgomery ended in disaster.

Matthew (James Sweeny) – Chloe's villainous father – grabbed Mia and shouted in her face during an argument outside the Parata house. Chloe panicked and hit Matthew over the head with a brick, but was horrified as he slumped dead to the ground.

Mia took control of the situation by moving Matthew's body into the boot of the family car and driving away. On the journey, Mia's erratic behaviour caught the attention of local policeman Cash Newman (Nicholas Cartwright), who started to give chase.

Elsewhere in the Bay, Ryder Jackson's online video challenges with Theo Poulos began to get out of hand as he agreed to be buried alive.

Ryder (Lukas Radovich) vowed to spend five hours trapped in a buried coffin, but the situation took a terrifying turn when Theo (Matt Evans) – who was supposed to be overseeing his safety above ground – tripped and was knocked unconscious.

Ryder was worried as he overheard Theo's accident, fearing that he'd be trapped indefinitely as none of his other friends or family knew where he was.

Another key storyline saw Martha Stewart (Belinda Giblin) struggle with the decision over whether to accept a life-saving kidney donation from her daughter Roo (Georgie Parker).

A recent trailer for 2022's storylines shows that Cash will ultimately catch up with Mia and take a look in her car boot, before putting her in handcuffs.

Chloe, meanwhile, tries her best to destroy evidence but ends up confessing all to her friend Bella Nixon (Courtney Miller), who supports her.

Mia will also break down in front of her fiancé Ari Parata (Rob Kipa-Williams), begging him to protect her – but viewers will have to stay tuned to find out whether the couple's engagement is now in serious jeopardy.

Show bosses have confirmed that Ari makes a shocking and drastic plan to deal with the situation, determined to do whatever it takes to protect Mia and Chloe.

Meanwhile, as Ryder remains trapped in the coffin, he receives a warning that he may only have enough oxygen to keep breathing for another 90 minutes.

Justin Morgan ultimately finds the video stream of the ill-fated challenge, so Ryder's aunt Roo Stewart joins forces with him and rushes to the rescue. Will they track down the boys in time?
