You can ease your worries about ISIS. Because Hollywood’s finest have gathered together with US Secretary Of State John Kerry to discuss different ways to counter the narratives that the Islamic state are releasing.

Earlier this week, John Kerry met Hollywood big-wigs at Universal Studios to discuss assisting the regions threatened or afflicted by ISIS. One of the attendees revealed that the main message was, “Let’s figure out how to involve people who are there.”

John Kerry didn’t just keep news of his 90 minute conversation with LA studio executives to himself though.

Obviously, he took to his social media accounts to provide an image documenting the chat, which he captioned with, “Great convo w studio execs in LA. Good to hear their perspectives & ideas of how to counter #Daesh narrative.”

Kerry probably really cheesed off ISIS by referring to them as Daesh, as the terrorist group really hate this acronym, which stands for “al-Dawla al-Islamiya fil Iraq wa al-Sham.”

The talkative attendee also revealed that executives in the room discussed ideas and thoughts on how the studios’ worldwide marketing of movies and TV and narrative storytelling can cross cultures.

The insider also insisted that this was more of a “brainstorming session” and there are now plans to set up another meeting between Kerry and these executives in Los Angeles in the near future.

Those in attendance included John Kerry and Jeff Shell, who is the chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group and the chair of the Broadcasting Board of Governors and the man who organised the meeting.

As well as MPAA Chairman Chris Dodd, Warner Bros. Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, 20th Century Fox Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos and 20th Century Fox Co-Chair Stacey Snider.

Plus, President of Walt Disney Motion Picture Production Sean Bailey, Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley, Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group Tim Rothman, Universal Pictures President Jimmy Horowitz, Amblin Partners CEO Michael Wright, and NBCUniversal Vice Chairman Ron Meyer.

ISIS weren’t represented at the meeting by anyone.
