Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Bobby Gordon, who plays Toby Faroe on the Cheshire based soap, has revealed what he'd like to see happen with Toby and Cleo's relationship.

Toby is dealing with many personal issues as he finds out that he must have counselling before he can donate a kidney to Walter. This leaves him worried and concerned that his past may catch up with him.

Martine tells Cleo that Toby has never been romantically involved with someone before and he's left feeling embarrassed and angry. After a counselling session, Toby snaps and locks Martine in a garage with the intention to set it on fire.

"This is the first time that he and Martine have clashed since he arrived," Gordon said.

"It's a mix of his anger over the Cleo situation and the counselling. Toby just sees red at this point, it's as if he doesn't know how to react."

Toby's sister Celeste sees the traumatic event unfolding before her eyes and it's up to her to talk her brother out of making a massive mistake.

Elsewhere, Toby's relationship with Cleo is going well and Gordon said that he'd like to see their relationship grow more on screen.

Explaining the background of Toby and Cleo's characters, Gordon said: "Cleo obviously has a thing for the Deverauxs!

"However, she's had a lot of ups and downs, and Toby's had a very troubled past. So I actually think the pair of them can confide in one another, and there's a chance that they can make something beautiful.

"Cleo's a real spark in Toby's life, and I think with her, he's finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. And I love it more because working with Nadine is great fun. I hope their relationship continues to blossom as I've got a good feeling about them."

Hollyoaks will start airing five new episodes per week again from Monday, January 18 - it will be air on weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
