Hollyoaks' Eric Foster gives ominous warning after Verity's death

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has aired the latest dark turn in Eric Foster's misogyny storyline after his sister Verity Hutchinson's death.

In a recent episode, Verity (Eva O'Hara) was killed in what everyone believes to be an accident. However, Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) is convinced Eric (Angus Castle-Doughty) is behind her death.

Viewers know it was Bobby Costello (Jayden Fox) who killed Verity. In tonight's (December 8) scenes, his aunt Goldie McQueen (Chelsee Healey) suspects he's lying about his involvement and asked John Paul (James Sutton) to retrieve Silas's USB stick and diary at Verity's law firm, making sure nothing could be traced back to them.

Meanwhile, Maxine went to Zoe Anderson (Garcia Brown) to share her doubts about Eric.

She admitted stealing his laptop, which contains incriminating proofs of his involvement with an incel group and of him being The Love Boat spiker. She told Zoe she sent it to a hacker to unlock it.

The DS was shocked to learn the lengths Maxine would go to prove Eric's crimes. Zoe told her Eric has an alibi, though she promised to keep an eye on him.

Later on, Tony (Nick Pickard) organised a memorial for Verity at The Dog. An emotional Eric gave an increasingly disturbing speech that left everyone in attendance puzzled.

"She was the only person who ever truly loved me," he said of Verity. "She saw into the darkest part of my soul and she read me like a book and she endeavoured to change the ending. But now the epilogue is up to me."

As he stated that his path was "set in stone from the very beginning," a concerned Maxine looked at Zoe.

After the memorial, Eric went to see Maxine. She told him she would get to the bottom of Verity's death, saying: "I'm on to you Eric and I will find out the truth."

After he victim-blamed her for having been assaulted, Maxine suggested he seek help.

"Women are not the problem. You are. You need help," she said.

"The only good woman I know has gone now," he replied, before going back to the trailer.

There, he received a visit from Mason Chen-Williams (Frank Kauer), who was worried about the hateful comments written about Verity by members of incel group Men First.

"I'm out. I'm different. I'm ready to accept my fate," Eric told Mason, hinting at a new turn of sinister events to come.

Later on, a creepy CGI scene showed Eric swallowing a Black Pill (a symbol of a particular incel ideology), a clear sign he is accepting his incel status and will act accordingly.

In the last scene, Bobby was seen burning the USB stick and diary he found in Verity's office.

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
