Hollyoaks airs kiss for John Paul and Ste

John Paul McQueen and Ste Hay have shared a shock kiss in Hollyoaks.

In Monday's E4 episode, Ste (Kieron Richardson) wasn't feeling his most confident as boyfriend James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) was sceptical of his decision to lease Leela's house without consulting him.

"I've stumbled my way through life, mistake after mistake, and I'm not going to let my kids down again. I'm going to provide for them," he insisted. "I need to sort that myself."

The two had an awkward run-in with George (Callum Kerr) and John Paul (James Sutton) at the cafe later on, where George cruelly referred to James and Ste as "the dodgy lawyer and the criminal".

John Paul tried to apologise for George's behaviour, but James also stuck his foot in it by explaining that Ste was taking accounting classes — leaving Ste to feel like James was demeaning him.

Once James and Ste bid a hasty exit, George unleashed another tirade against John Paul about the encounter with his exes. John Paul stormed out and got drunk, with Ste bumping into him in the park.

"You're not a bad person, John Paul," Ste assured him. "You're gentle, kind. Some of the best years of my life was being married to you."

John Paul then questioned why they'd "thrown it all away", insisting: "We had fun, didn't we? It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, but it was real."

As Ste nodded "yes", John Paul leaned in for a kiss! How will Ste react to his ex-husband's shocking romantic gesture?

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
