Holby City spoilers follow.

Holby City aired a shock exit for Lucky Simpson in a rare Monday visit to the wards (June 28), as newcomer Jeni Sinclair continued to scheme.

Lucky was forced to stand down from her role at the hospital after Jeni got wind of her unethical arrangement with the late Kian Madani.

But has Lucky left for good? And just what is Jeni really up to? Here's our quick guide.

The good news is that it doesn't look like we've seen the last of Lucky, despite her shock sacking tonight,

Lucky was seen heading out of the hospital in shame tonight, after Max was forced to reprimand her for microdosing Kian in the weeks before his death.

Although Max was sympathetic to Lucky's predicament, she was left with no other choice but to send her old friend packing. For now, anyway.

Digital Spy understands that tonight did not mark the end of Vineeta Rishi's time on the show, meaning the door is left open for Lucky to return later down the line.

The story will now shift focus to Jeni's motives behind getting Lucky the sack…

Jeni's mysterious behaviour has been plaguing us for a while, with tonight's episode unquestionably confirming that she is absolutely not to be trusted.

Jeni, aka the hospital's director of funding, made a beeline for flirty Fletch shortly after their initial meeting a few months ago, but it's becoming increasingly clear that his teenage daughter Evie has piqued her interest more.

After deviously driving a wedge between father and daughter, Jeni has coerced Evie into believing she has her best interests at heart. Sadly, but not wholly surprisingly, we are about to see that this couldn't be further from the truth.

Whether you were aware of it or not, tonight's episode is the start of a shocking new story for Fletch's daughter Evie, as Jeni's banishing of Lucky is all part of a wider plan.

Next week's episodes will reveal that Jeni is actually the leader of a sex ring, and she's under pressure to get Evie, and other local girls, involved.

This would explain why Jeni was so keen to get Lucky out of the way, but will Fletch realise what's going on before it's too late?

Next week's episode will further explore Jeni's despicable plan as she makes another shocking move, while Max and Henrik prepare for the emergency inspection.

Elsewhere, Josh is caught between a rock and a hard place when his dependent mother is brought into the hospital, just as Ange gets some news that will change their lives forever.

Holby City continues next Tuesday (July 6) on BBC One.
