This historic downtown building was sold. Now Boise has another midsize concert club

A historic Boise building that rocked last week during Treefort Music Fest is about to rock harder.

The El Korah Shrine building, 1118 W. Idaho St., was sold March 10. The buyer was Scoggin Capital Investment, an investor in Duck Club Entertainment, which produces Treefort.

Duck Club will take over the building and operate it as an all-ages venue for concerts and community events. The 700-capacity El Korah Shrine is one of the primary music destinations each year during Treefort, an annual five-day festival held in downtown Boise.

Boise-based Scoggin Capital Investment also is an investor in the newly opened Treefort Music Hall, 722 W. Broad St., also run by Duck Club.

Duck Club plans to continue the dated building’s “legacy of being a home for a variety of community events, an ongoing home for Shriners’ events and to book more year-round concerts at the venue,” according to a media release, “and offer it to other local promoters and independent artists looking for a flexible, all-ages space.

“Duck Club also plans to host smaller concerts in the basement and continue having the downstairs Oasis bar open for regular hours. The building also features a full commercial kitchen and plans for that space will be announced at a later date.”

Filled with character (and characters during Treefort), the El Korah Shrine building was built — technically, rebuilt — in 2014 after a fire. Its prior use had been as a city livery stable, according to previous Statesman reporting. Scoggin Capital Investment and Duck Club plan to upgrade the space. “Improvements will be made over time,” according to the media release, “but all with proper historic preservation of the building in mind.”

Duck Club already has a few basement shows planned at El Korah. Tickets also are being sold for concerts at the larger Treefort Music Hall, which holds 1,040.
