Hillary Clinton urges people to vote in midterm elections: 'We are in the midst of a war on truth, facts and reason'

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said she is "committed" to urging American voters to participate in 2018 midterm elections to "get the sexism out of politics."

"I believe the only way to get sexism out of politics is to get more women into politics and that's never been more at stake than right now," she said at the 2018 MAKERS Conference on Wednesday.

Clinton also mentioned the current political climate, as well as the state of the current administration, as further justification for shaking up the system. She called for Americans to "do something about it by insisting on accuracy from elected leaders and the press -- and holding them accountable when they fail to meet that standard."

"We are living through an all-out assault on core values of democracy, free speech, the rule of law. We are in the midst of war on truth, facts and reason," she said.

While noting that "we still have a long way to go" when it comes to women's rights, Clinton praised the moves women have taken to -- and implored women to continue their work in raising their voices.

"From Hollywood to politics to factory floors, everywhere women are telling the truth about their lives," she said. "And let's make sure the world is never the same."
