Hikers find body near road, California sheriff says. Homicide investigation opens

Hikers discovered the body of a man near a road in Spring Valley, a California sheriff says.

The body showed signs of trauma, a San Diego County Sheriff’s Office news release said. A homicide investigation has been opened.

Hikers found the body at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, off the roadway in the 3500 block of Millar Ranch Road, the release said.

The identity of the man who died has not been released nor has a cause of death.
