How “High School Musical” Series Star Sofia Wylie Is Finding Peace at Home

In light of COVID-19, we’re checking in on our favorite celebrities in My Self-Quarantined Life, a series on what their daily lives look like while social distancing.

Routines are Sofia Wylie’s saving grace through social distancing. “I’ve been starting my day early and keeping a solid routine and trying to eat healthy,” the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series actress tells Teen Vogue. Like her co-star Olivia Rodrigo, Sofia has been working out, doing schoolwork, and staying connected to loved ones in the safest ways possible.

“I want to make sure that I keep checking in friends and family as often as I have during the quarantine,” she says. “Just a simple call or text is something I learned really does make a difference. I will continue to check up on my friends!”

Sofia has learned to make peace with being temporarily removed from the world. Like millions of Americans, she’s enjoying the comforts of home but still excited for when reopening happens. “I’ve learned that I love being home. I really didn’t realize how busy I’ve been these past few years so being home has been such a blessing. I learned how to make different dishes and even cooked my first cake,” the 16-year-old shares. What she’s looking forward to doing exactly, “I would love to go to the movies with a big bucket of popcorn!”

9:00 AM — Waking up/Tea

Starting the day in a good headspace is so important! I love to sip on a hot cup of tea while I take a moment alone to think about what I’m grateful for. It’s a nice, calm way to start my day that gives me a positive state of mind and it puts a smile on my face.

10:00 AM - 3:00 PM — School

After breakfast, it’s time for school. I like to do my schoolwork in the morning while I’m feeling fresh, plus it means I will have the rest of my day free to spend with my family and to pick my own activities to keep me busy.

3:00 PM — Protein Shake

Once all of my schoolwork is finished, I make a protein shake before my daily three-mile run. I like to make sure I’m fueled with the right nutrition to give me the energy I need to maintain a healthy lifestyle (and the chocolate flavor is good!).

3:30 PM — Gym/Run

Now that I’m fueled up, I feel ready to take on the world – even if it is just from the treadmill in my building! Running every day helps me to clear my thoughts and focus on what’s right in front of me. Don’t worry, the gym is cleaned and is limited to one person (or family) at a time.

6:00 PM — Walk Dog

After my run, it’s time for my dog, Violet, to get her exercise. I look forward to this part of my day when I get outside for some fresh air. And it is so cute to watch Violet sniff and explore everything!

6:30 PM — Cooking

My sister is the chef in the house but I love helping her out in the kitchen. During this time at home, I’ve been working on my chopping skills and learning new healthy recipes.

10:00 PM — Face mask

When it’s time to wind down, I like to show my skin some love with a face mask and some relaxation before bed. It’s a great time to reflect on the day, decompress, and check in with myself.
