Now that multiple trailers have dropped for the landmark interview between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Oprah Winfrey, fans are unpicking every detail they can in anticipation - including Meghan’s outfit.

For the occasion, the duchess, who is pregnant with her second child, wore a black belted silk dress from Armani that retails for $4,700 (£3,300).

But the dress may have a hidden meaning behind it; as royal fans have noticed it features an embroidered lotus flower on the right-hand side.

The lotus flower, which is a revered symbol in Hinduism and Hindu iconography, is known for representing spiritual enlightenment, growth and rebirth, all of which could be seen as relevant to Meghan’s new life in California with Harry after the couple stepped down from the royal family in January 2020.

The Duchess of Sussex also wore an equally symbolic piece of jewellery, a diamond bracelet that once belong to Prince Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana.

In addition to its significance as a family relic, the bracelet is also precious as it was used to create Meghan’s engagement ring, according to People, which notes that Prince Harry took two stones from the piece to create his wife’s three-stone ring.

According to the outlet, the couple decided for the duchess to wear the bracelet during the interview so it would be like Diana was with them.

The outfit Prince Harry chose to wear for the interview also has sentimental meaning, with royal fans noticing that the duke previously wore the gray suit when he and Meghan introduced their son Archie Harrison to the world.

Prince Harry has worn the suit on numerous other occasions as well, including during a 2019 visit to Morocco.

In one of the trailers, Winfrey quotes Meghan as having used the word “unsurvivable” in the context of talking about her life within the royal family.

While little is known about the contents of the interview at this stage, since the interview was announced, Winfrey’s close friend, Gayle King has said that no subject was off limits and that it is the “best interview” Winfrey has ever done.

In the teaser, Winfrey tells the audience: “I just want to make it clear to everybody there is no subject that is off limits”, to which we see that Meghan nods but any response has been edited out.”

The interview will air on CBS on Sunday and ITV on Monday at 8pm.
