South Korea lifts president's martial law decree after lawmakers vote against it
The South Korean government early Wednesday lifted the martial law imposed by President Yoon Suk Yeol during a tense night of political drama in which troops surrounded parliament and lawmakers voted to reject military rule. Police and military personnel were seen leaving the grounds of parliament following the bipartisan vote, and the declaration was formally lifted around 4:30 a.m. during a Cabinet meeting. Yoon, who appeared likely to be impeached over his actions, imposed martial law late Tuesday, vowing to eliminate “anti-state” forces as he struggles against an opposition that controls parliament and that he accuses of sympathizing with communist North Korea.

South Korea's martial law confusion deepens caution
A sudden burst of political chaos in South Korea has put investors in Asia on the defensive, pointing to a cautious market open across the continent on Wednesday despite Wall Street's resilience the previous day. South Korea's President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law on Tuesday to thwart "anti-state forces" among his opponents, creating the most serious challenge to the country's democracy since the 1980s, only to lift it hours later after lawmakers rejected the move and protesters gathered outside parliament. At one point, it was down 2% and set for its biggest one-day loss since Nov. 9, 2016, the day after the 2016 U.S. election that swept Donald Trump to power and started the clock ticking on a looming trade war with China.

Reindeer Bus Spreads Festive Spirit Throughout Vancouver
A person catching the bus in Vancouver was delighted to find that they were going to be riding a bus decorated as a reindeer for the holiday season on Saturday, November 30.According to TransLink, metro Vancouver’s transportation network, the festive buses are part of a “Reindeer Bus fleet.” There are nine buses, each named after a different reindeer guiding Santa Claus’s sleigh, the Daily Hive reported. The release said each bus was “decorated by Santa’s elves” and the routes they travel are based on “scheduling by elves at each bus depot.”TransLink explained that the buses collect and deliver toys to families in need as part of the Toys for Tots program. Donations are collected from transit staff, local police, and customers at various stations, and delivered to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau.“Our Reindeer Buses and Santa Train are a beloved holiday tradition,” TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn said in a press release. “We’re proud to support local charities and I encourage everyone to donate and take part in spreading joy and making the season brighter for those in need.”TikTok user @nniiaazz captured this footage showing the exterior of the bus which features cartoon eyes and a large glowing red nose, along with a show of dazzling lights inside.
