Here's What 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' 'Grand Budapest Hotel' Would Look Like as '80s VHS Tapes

Vinyl is seemingly in a state of perpetual resurgence, and that’s a great thing. As for its cinematic cousin that flourished in the ’80s before going virtually extinct, the VHS tape… not so much.

An inspired artist in France who goes by the name of Stan, however, has given us a glance at what today’s movies (and a few TV shows) would look like today on cassette, and they’re magnifique. He posted photos of pics of costume-created VHS packages for movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Gravity, and The Grand Budapest Hotel on his Tumblr, some of which you can check out below.

Apparently it was all a part of an April Fool’s joke (a cruel, cruel April Fool’s joke, Stan), but who knows, maybe this is how the VHS gets reborn. We’d pay money to have a few of those on our shelves.
