Here’s The Reason Why John Williams Is Scoring Star Wars: Episode VIII

Was it ever in doubt that legendary composer wouldn’t be scoring the music for ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’?

Considering the maestro is now 84, he’s still going strong where working on movies is concerned. Everyone has to retire sometime, but for Williams, who has been creating iconic film music for 60 years, that time seems to be the last thing on his mind.

During a live concert, Masslive report that Williams himself confirmed that he’d be working on the Rian Johnson movie, ‘Episode VIII’, and will return to the franchise but mainly due to one specific and rather brilliant reason: his fondness to Rey, played by British actress Daisy Ridley.

According to reports, Williams “accepted the invitation from Lucasfilm producer Kathleen Kennedy mainly because he was enchanted by actress Daisy Ridley’s portrayal of Rey and does not want another composer scoring her scenes”.

So it appears the musical legend has something of a soft spot for the latest and newest ‘Star Wars’ hero and looks like he’s rather precious about letting anyone else score the music for her.

John Williams worked on ‘The Force Awakens’, as well as all the other instalments, as well as other classic tunes for the likes of ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Jaws’, ‘Superman’, and ‘Indiana Jones’.

And to be honest, there’s no one fans would rather see score the upcoming movie due to his reliability and obvious very personal admiration and love for the films he has.

With Rey continuing the new trilogy, it’ll be interesting to see what Williams does with her musical accompaniments, considering he appear so passionate about them! He’s also working on this year’s ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ very shortly, and will start his stint on ‘Episode VIII’ after director Rian Johnson revealed he’d begun editing the anticipated movie. It also means that there’s a pretty good chance we will see some form of trailer emerge (complete with music) by the time the year’s out.
