It's no secret the Jennifer Lopez thriller The Boy Next Door was made for considerably less than most high-profile films. But that didn’t stop the obsession thriller from becoming a sleeper hit, tallying more than 12 times its production budget in global returns.

The Boy Next Door was helmed by Rob Cohen, who directed the very first Fast and Furious movie —another low-budget hit — he has established a scrappy track record.
