Gal Gadot's profession maybe her acting, but she's also known for her fresh-faced approach to beauty. After a stint as the face of Gucci’s Bamboo fragrance, she signed on as a Revlon ambassador and has definitely found her signature makeup look: natural skin with a bold cheek and red lip.

Whether she’s walking the red carpet or running after her daughters at home, one thing’s for sure: Gadot definitely thinks about beauty from the inside out, and she’s always up for experimenting to find what works best. “I am all about beauty products and I’m always testing various creams and serums,” she told Harper’s Bazaar Singapore. “My bathroom cabinet is full of different brands.” If you want to hone in on your own minimalist beauty routine fueled by simple but effective products and rituals, follow her tips here.

Staying hydrated is her number one beauty tip

"First and foremost is to drink lots of water, because it doesn’t matter how much moisturizer you put on your skin; if you’re dehydrated from within, nothing will help," she told Byrdie.

When it comes to skincare though, for Gadot, water isn’t just for drinking. "I take Evian water spray with me," she previously explained. "If you feel like your makeup has dried out during the day, it gives a boost of hydration."

Her nighttime routine’s all about self-care and skincare

For this mother of three, self-care dominates the hour or so Gadot gets to herself after putting her children to sleep. It all starts and ends in the bathroom, Gadot's very own sacred space for pampering. “I'll take a long shower, and I’ll meditate,” she told SELF recently. “I will do my whole beauty routine of all the different things that I wear before I go to bed, serums and stuff like that.”

What’s particularly smart is that she does all of this before unwinding on the sofa with her husband. That way, when she starts feeling sleepy, her skin’s already ready for slumber. Post-shower, she doesn’t forget about hydrating the rest of her body either and actually loves an affordable lotion for this step. “I use lots of different body lotions, but my favourite is Nivea Rich and Nourishing Body Moisturiser – it’s cheap but it’s so good,” Gadot told Harper’s Bazaar Singapore.

She goes light on makeup in between jobs

Though Gadot's a former pageant girl and used to a full face, she’s not a fan of all the heavy makeup that comes with being on the stage and the screen. In fact, to offset all of the cosmetics she uses while working, she keeps it simple when she’s not on the job. “In my day-to-day life, I like to keep my makeup very light, so what I do is I mix my moisturiser with just a touch of my foundation and I just apply it with my fingers,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “So easy and natural.”

Part of her light touch might lie in her Israeli roots. When asked about the difference between American and Israeli beauty, she cited the heat in her homeland as the biggest factor for any difference in makeup trends. “Because the weather in Israel is so hot, the Israelis would wear… lots of sunscreen and less makeup,” she said.

Regardless of how much makeup she’s wearing on any given day though, Gal told E!News she always makes a point to thoroughly remove all products — no matter how tired she is at the end of the day. For your best skin, it’s important to remember this step, even if like Gadot, you adopt a less is more philosophy when it comes to your makeup.

She keeps her skin guessing by switching up her products

“I mix my skin and beauty products, and change them—just like my gym and workout routines—because you always have to change,” Gadot told SELF. “Now I'm using Augustinus Bader.” While this may work for her, it's important to note that a lot of dermatologists don't recommend this—especially if you have sensitive skin.

She’s also open to rotating in more bespoke skincare solutions, too. “I also use products from a woman named Karen Barto, who’s a facialist from Israel,” she said in that same interview above. “She has these amazing products for the face that I bring with me from Israel every time I go there. It's a whole routine. She numbered everything from her products, so I put six products on my face before I go to bed.”

She nurtures her skin from the inside out with her diet

While Gadot doesn’t believe in fad diets or following super-restrictive eating plans, she does understand the power of eating pretty and knows what she consumes can impact both how she looks and feels. That’s why she strives for balance, packing her meals with plenty of nutrient-dense foods. “I’m from Israel so I follow a Mediterranean diet… I try to make a huge percent of the plate veggies, then lean protein, and then a small amount of quality, good carbs,” she told InStyle. “I eat a lot of fish and huge salads with olive oil and lemon.”
