Heartstopper star Kit Connor lands next movie role

Heartstopper star Kit Connor has landed his next movie role, joining the cast for Warfare.

As reported by Deadline, the star will appear in Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland’s project, with Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis and Finn Bennett also joining the cast alongside the previously- announced D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Charles Melton and Joseph Quinn.

Plot details for the project are currently being kept under wraps, with Mendoza and Garland sharing both writing and directing duties in what will be their second collaboration together; their first, Civil War, is due to be released next month.

Connor is best known for playing Nick Nelson on Heartstopper, which is due to return to Netflix in October for its third season. Whilst most of the core cast will return, Connor won’t be appearing opposite his on-screen mother Olivia Colman, with the star absent due to a scheduling conflict.

“I couldn't do number three. I couldn't fit it in. I feel awful about that,” explained Colman. “I feel like I was part of one of the most beautiful things I've ever been part of. As long as it's booked in advance, maybe I'll be able to do it [season four], yeah!”

Whilst Colman won’t appear, there is plenty to still look forward to, with creator Alice Oseman expressing her excitement at the opportunity to revisit the characters of Truham Grammar School.

“I am really looking forward to writing about adults,” she said. “That is something that I've just never had the opportunity to do... I'd love to try writing more for the screen. I've really enjoyed writing the TV show.

“I would love to do more of that, whether that's something original or I would love to try adapting someone else's book. I think that could be really fun. It's all a mystery right now, so we'll see.”

Heartstopper seasons 1-2 are streaming on Netflix. Season 3 is in production.
