Photos: Lava from erupting Hawaii volcano Mauna Loa draws thousands of awestruck viewers

Thousands of people have flocked to Mauna Loa in Hawaii to see the spectacular rivers of lava flowing from the world's biggest active volcano that erupted finally after 38 years.

A main highway—which could be soon covered by the flow—has become an important viewing point, with hundreds of cars jamming the roads as many residents, tourists, and photographers rush to take in the breathtaking views.

State officials say that the lava is less than 6.5 kilometres from the key highway that could soon be cut off and have a major disruption to daily lives. However, it hasn't deterred people from rushing to the highway to view the ongoing eruption.
