In the first three episodes of their Netflix documentary series, Harry & Meghan, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made a point to not say too much about their children, Archie, 3, and Lili, 1, in part to protect their privacy.

But they did provide a rare look into their children's lives along with the first clip of Archie speaking with his cute American accent. Archie's first birthday party, Meghan and Archie together during her pregnancy with Lili, and Harry goofing around with Archie were among the photos shared in the first episode. Hello! has the clip of Archie speaking here (he says, of a sunset in Montecito, CA, “Well, it's all done, beautiful”), and you can also view it in the first episode of Harry & Meghan on Netflix here.

“We’ve been really conscious of protecting our kids as best as we can and also understanding the role that they play in this really historical family,” Meghan said at the beginning of the series.

Meghan and Harry touched on their own experiences as children of divorce in the second episode while Harry touched on his pride at having mixed race children and how important it was for him to call out the racist coverage and treatment of his then-girlfriend Meghan by the British tabloids.

Meghan is half Black, and she said in the series she never noticed different treatment until she was in the U.K., publicly dating Harry. “Very different to be a minority but not be treated as a minority right off the bat,” she said. “Obviously now, people are very aware of my race because they made it such an issue when I went to the UK. But, before that, most people didn’t treat me like a Black woman.”

Harry said of his children and the importance of standing up for his wife against racist treatment, “My son, my daughter, my children are mixed-race and I’m really proud of that. When my kids grow up and they look back at this moment and they turn to me and say, ‘What did you do in this moment?’ I want to be able to give them an answer.”

He and Meghan, whose parents both split up while they were kids, also wanted to give them a better view of marriage than they had.

“What’s most important for the two of us is to make sure that we don’t repeat the same mistakes that perhaps our parents made,” Harry said.

“There’s so much, I think, of anyone’s childhood that you bring with you into the present,” Meghan added, reflecting on her own experience. “Especially when you are the product of divorce.”

On the whole, Harry said at the start of the series that Lili and Archie could someday watch, that this is his and Meghan's story together. “This is a great love story. The craziest thing is that I think this love story is only just getting started,” he added. “You know, she sacrificed everything that she ever knew, the freedom that she had, to join me in my world. And then pretty soon after that, I ended up sacrificing everything that I know to join her in her world.”
