Harry speaks of ‘dirty game’ involving ‘leaking and planting of stories’ in new trailer for Netflix documentary
The highly anticipated six-part documentary series on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be released in two installments on December 8 and 15, Netflix has announced.
Harry & Meghan will premiere first with Volume I (episodes 1-3) on Thursday and Volume II (episodes 4-6) next week.
The announcement on Monday also came with the release of a new and explosive trailer for the series behind the scenes of the lives of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan.
âItâs really hard to look back on it now and go, âWhat on earth happened?ââ Harry reflects in the trailer.
The royal claimed there is âa hierarchy of the familyâ and there is âleaking but thereâs also planting of storiesâ.
âItâs a dirty game,â he added.
The Duke said he was âterrifiedâ and he didnât âwant history to repeat itselfâ, suggesting a comparison between the media treatment of his mother, Princess Diana, and his wife.
In the trailer his wife Meghan said: âI realised theyâre never going to protect you.â
Footage shows the pair being photographed while attending public royal duties before they stepped down as senior royals in 2020. In one clip a fan screams âMeghan, we love youâ amongst a crowd of people.
Snippets of what appears to be an interview of the Duke and Duchess in their own home are played. In audio from media outlets, the Duchess is described as âbecoming a royal rock starâ.
The trailer ends with Harry claiming: âNo one knows the full truth. We know the full truth.â
Netflix UK and Ireland released the trailer on Twitter at midday, describing the two December release dates for the documentary series as âa Netflix global eventâ.
The series, directed by Liz Garbus, will explore the coupleâs relationship timeline and the challenges that lead them to step down from royal duties.
It includes interviews with family and friends whoâve never spoken publicly about the coupleâs relationship before, as well as historians and journalists.
The new trailer comes just hours after it was announced that the Duke and Duchess are to take over the running of their Archewell company after a senior aide stepped down.
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said they will now take âfull leadâ of their Archewell media and charitable foundation and Mandana Dayaniâs role will not be replaced.
