Happy Gilmore 2 is officially happening at Netflix
A Happy Gilmore sequel has been confirmed by Netflix.
A follow up to the cult 1996 Adam Sandler comedy has been rumoured recently, and Netflix revealed at its Upfront presentation yesterday (May 15) that Happy Gilmore 2 is officially happening.
Sharing the news on social media, the streamer wrote: "Happy Gilmore is back! Adam Sandler will reprise his iconic role in a brand new movie coming to Netflix."

The original movie follows Sandler's titular failed ice hockey player who discovers he has a talent for golf, entering a tournament to help save his grandmother's home from foreclosure.
Star Christopher McDonald – who played Gilmore's golfing rival Shooter McGavin in the first movie – recently teased that a sequel was in the works.
“I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this,’” he told Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan in March. “I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘How about that?’ and he shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2.

The actor quipped that his comments should be “cut” as he didn’t want to be labelled a “liar”, adding: “He did show me that [script], and I thought, ‘Well, that would be awesome.’ So, it’s in the works. Fans demand it, dammit!”
Sandler previously revived the character for the movie's 25th anniversary in 2021, hitting a golf ball while also calling out his rival.
In a response, McDonald said in character as McGavin: “Nice drive Gilmore. 25 years huh? Let's see if it's Shooter's tour – check it out. Oh yeah, it's all about the short game. Drive for show, putt for the dough.”
Happy Gilmore 2 will stream on Netflix, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
