Gwyneth Paltrow Celebrated Apple's 17th Birthday With the Sweetest Message

It's hard to believe that 17 years ago, Gwyneth Paltrow blessed us all with her daughter, Apple Martin. In what may have been the kickstart of the strange celebrity baby name craze, Paltrow continued blazing the trail with Moses Martin and paved the way for names like Audio Science, Blue Ivy, Axl Jack, and Dusty Rose. To celebrate her daughter's birthday, Paltrow shared a beachside snapshot, showing off Apple's jealousy-inducing waves and enviable neon-orange manicure.

In her caption, Paltrow shared that she remembered the exact day her daughter was born, calling her an "angel" and piling on the compliments, saying that Apple is "brilliant and hardworking." Paltrow also mentioned that she admired Apple's self-acceptance.

"Can it be? 17 today?? My sweetest girl ... YOU ARE MY LIFE! You make me belly laugh every day. You are brilliant and hardworking. You are fully YOU which I respect and admire so much," she wrote. "I wish I had had even a spoonful of the self-acceptance you have when I was your age. You are so inspiring and just so cool. I remember the morning you came into the world so perfectly, I just can't believe it was 17 years ago. Happy birthday, my angel."

While proud mom Gwyneth's compliments are enough to warm even the iciest hearts, the sentiments don't always go both ways. Recently, Apple roasted her mom not once, but twice. Paltrow told People that her daughter was convinced that she was a "loser" and that she doesn't want any advice on what to wear or where to shop. Things have changed, however, probably thanks to the world's obsession with '90s style and Paltrow's sleek, minimal fashion M.O.

"My daughter likes my style now, which is great because there was a period of time where she thought I was a total loser," Paltrow said.

And before that, Apple took a dig at her mom's fascination with vaginas and Goop's near-obsessive coverage of over-the-top clean living and health trends.

"And she eats nothing except for dates and almond butter, so she will have that. I suppose the Goop Glow is a part of her cleanse, which she's been on since ... the day I was born, apparently. Then she gets to work, making some more vagina eggs," Apple said on TikTok, referencing goop's infamous vaginal eggs. "And candles, also vagina candles, and vagina perfumes. Just everything vagina."
