Gwen Stefani Cracks Up at Niall Horan's Impression of Blake Shelton's Southern Accent: 'I Love This Guy'

"He's just the nicest guy in the world, loves what he loves and just has a great time doing everything," said Horan of his friendship with Shelton

Blake Shelton may have left The Voice, but his former fellow coaches are still talking about him — specifically his wife Gwen Stefani and singer Niall Horan.

The pair, who are both currently on the NBC singing competition series, appeared on Tuesday's episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show and spoke about their admiration for Shelton, before Horan showed his oddly accurate impression of the country star's Southern accent.

During the segment, host Jennifer Hudson (who previously coached on The Voice) mentioned that she's heard people say Horan, 30, looks a bit like Shelton, 47. "You could be our son," joked Stefani, 54, as they looked at a picture of the two musicians together.

"I'm the weird stepson," quipped Horan in response. However, the former One Direction member also agreed they look alike — "minus a few gray hairs," he joked.

The "Slow Hands" performer then shared the story of how he met and became friends with Shelton shortly before they began filming the blind auditions for season 23 of The Voice, which aired in March 2023.

"I got on very well with Blake," said Horan. "We went for a drink the day before. I sat down with him for five minutes and was like, 'This is my guy. I’m sticking with him.'"

He and Shelton sat next to each other throughout the season and became buddies. "We had such a laugh. What you see with Blake is what you get — on-camera, off-camera. He’s just that guy," added Horan. "He’s just the nicest guy in the world, loves what he loves and just has a great time doing everything. He’s just the best."

Hudson, 42, claimed she's heard Horan can do an impression of Shelton's voice, and while he wasn't so confident in his own ability, he gave it a try, speaking a few sentences the "God Gave Me You" musician would likely say.

“This my wife, Gwen Stefani. I would love you to be on my team," said Horan in Shelton's voice, pointing to the "Rich Girl" singer and pretending he's on The Voice. "You know, my friend Jennifer over here…"

He was then given some pointers by Hudson: "Get a little louder. Blake be loud."

"I love Jennifer," exclaimed Horan with a southern accent. "You can be on my team!"

Asked how she felt about Horan's impression of her husband, Stefani simply answered, "I love this guy. I love Blake. I love The Voice. It’s been so much fun."
