Yahoo Movies Guy Ritchie shares cautious Aladdin 2 update
Aladdin director Guy Ritchie has weighed in on the likeliness of a sequel.
For his live-action 2019 version, Ritchie (famed for Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and two Sherlock Holmes movies) cast Mena Massoud as the Agrabah street urchin, while Oscar-winner Will Smith took on the legendary mantle of the blue Genie.
Four years since it took over $1 billion at the box office, Collider asked the filmmaker whether he'd revisit this magical realm.

"I'd very much like to," Ritchie admitted.
"I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that experience. It was a great experience. That whole Disney thing, as you can imagine, is such a professional outfit. Just from that perspective, it was so much fun.
"I would very much like to, we'll wait and see. We have been kicking some ideas around for some time now, but it'd be great to do, it would be great to go back there."

This comes after Aladdin producer Dan Lin suggested that the story was far from done thanks to the incredible reaction from viewers.
"I would say resoundingly audiences want to see more. They've watched this movie multiple times," he said.
"We have lots of fan letters about people who really go back and they bring their friends and bring their family, and so we feel like there's more story to tell."
Ritchie, meanwhile, is staying with the Disney franchise by directing a live-action Hercules.
"One of the reasons that we make movies, you know, is the real opportunity to get to work with someone that we idolise," commented the Russo brothers, who are on producing duties. "We're excited about it because the vision for it is a little bit more contemporary, a little bit more modern, a little bit more fun, a little more cheeky."
