Rockstar will give the world its first glimpse at the new Grand Theft Auto this week.

The first trailer for the highly anticipated game will arrive on Tuesday, December 5, the developer revealed on its website.

More than 10 years have passed since the last instalment in the long-running action series was released. GTA V introduced multiple protagonists to the game for the first time, and kept players satiated with its ever-changing multiplayer mode GTA Online.

Rockstar originally announced that it was working on a new GTA in February 2022. The following September, leaked videos released by hackers revealed an unpolished version of the game that the public was never meant to see. Two UK teenagers were found responsible for the breach this year by a jury at a London court.

In addition, more footage from the game was reportedly leaked after a TikTok account shared two short videos of the highly anticipated game on Saturday (December 2).

Reports have suggested that the new game will be set in a fictional version of Miami called Vice City, which has appeared in earlier entries. It will apparently feature a pair of hoodlums, including the series' first female character.

In November, Rockstar revealed that the game's first trailer would land in early December to coincide with the developer's 25th anniversary.

“With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway," Rockstar previously said in a statement.

While players wait for the new game, the developer is hoping to entice them back to GTA Online with a December update that includes animals, carjacking missions, and Fast and Furious-style drift races.
