Grunge and Fetish-Inspired Looks Dominate Paco Rabanne's SS23 Collection

Julien Dossena showed his Spring/Summer 2023 collection for Paco Rabanne through an off-calendar presentation in Paris.

The designer, who sent out invites made of black natural rubber ahead of the show, played around with textures and colors for the runway titled "On a Mission." The show opened with lace trims on matching tops and bottoms, along with chain-covered boots and a nano version of the brand's chainmail shoulder bag. Leather chokers, head accessories and buckled bracelets accessorized the looks, which further included fringes and scaffolding -- an homage to the earlier days of Paco Rabanne.

Dossena used materials like latex and PVC for fetish-inspired designs, also appearing in the form of leather straps laid atop floral jumpsuits. Outfits were kept dynamic through the use of various colors and prints, while select models strutted down the catwalk wearing metallic silver from head to toe. Trompe l'œil details were spotted on tees with graphics creating the illusion of chain necklaces. The collection was complete with abstract paint patterns splashed across glossy dresses and coats.
