A new grocery store, gas station being added to booming west Roseville

Another large chain grocery store is coming to west Roseville.

According to documents filed with the city’s planning commission, RSC Engineering has applied to build a 76,000-square-foot shopping center on the corner of Fiddyment Road and Pleasant Grove Boulevard. The shopping center is to be anchored by Safeway, and will have 14,000 square feet of additional shopping space.

The plan also includes a gas station with 16 pumps as well as a fast-food restaurant with drive-thru.

The development of the site was set in motion in 2006 when the planning commission approved a permit to construct retail stores and a fueling station. A considerable amount of housing has been built around the site in the last few years, creating a growing need for retail services for residents.

The area surrounding the future retail center includes senior apartments and single-family homes. To allow easy access from the senior community, a golf cart path is planned for the rear of the property, behind the grocery store.

The project is approved under a conditional use permit.
