Greenpeace lights up sign of peace ahead of G7

STORY: The peace symbol, projected on the Waxenstein, a mountain close to Schloss Elmau where the summit takes place, is supposed to send a message for peace and against the use of fossil fuels.

"The income from coal, oil and gas are financing Putin's war against Ukraine and it's the emission of coal, oil and gas that worsen the climate crisis and will lead to more crises and conflicts in this world," Lisa Göldner, a member of Greenpeace said on Saturday (June 25).

Russia's invasion of Ukraine is on top of the agenda of the G7 summit, due to start on Sunday (June 26).

The three day summit takes place annually and is a meeting of the head of states of seven of the world's most advanced economies.
