Great news for Alpha Group International plc (LON:ALPH): Insiders acquired stock in large numbers last year

Usually, when one insider buys stock, it might not be a monumental event. But when multiple insiders are buying like they did in the case of Alpha Group International plc (LON:ALPH), that sends out a positive message to the company's shareholders.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Alpha Group International Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Non-Executive Chairman Clive Kahn bought UK£139k worth of shares at a price of UK£17.50 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, at around the current price, which is UK£18.30. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. If someone buys shares at well below current prices, it's a good sign on balance, but keep in mind they may no longer see value. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.

In the last twelve months insiders purchased 20.33k shares for UK£362k. But insiders sold 871.00 shares worth UK£20k. Overall, Alpha Group International insiders were net buyers during the last year. Insider Ownership

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Alpha Group International insiders own about UK£178m worth of shares (which is 23% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
