Grandfather Chokes Up Describing Search for Missing Granddaughter in Uvalde Shooting

A man described the search for his missing granddaughter following the massacre at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday, May 24.

“The hospitals said they couldn’t find her. And later, when we knew and were here at the school. They went to see if they could help identify her at the civic center [unintelligible] more kids, but she wasn’t there either. The only hope is – they airlifted a 76-year-old woman who died and a girl of ten and we’re hoping it’ll be my granddaughter,” the man said according to a translation by Storyful.

The man was identified in reports as Adolfo Cruz, grandfather of Eliahana “Elijah” Cruz Torres, who did not survive.
