Russians told not to panic over 'gas cloud' in city near plant struck by Ukraine
The governor of Russia's Astrakhan region told residents not to panic on Wednesday after its main city, close to a huge gas chemical complex that was attacked by Ukrainian drones this week, was enveloped in a cloud of natural gas. Governor Igor Babushkin said the gas that people could smell was the result of work to restart production at the plant near the southern city of Astrakhan, which has a population of about 475,000 people. "Dear citizens, this morning the city was covered by a cloud of natural gas, which has a specific smell that appears after processing," he wrote on Telegram.

ECB's de Guindos says how low rates go depends on inflation development
Inflation is approaching the European Central Bank's 2% target, and how much lower the rates will go depends on data confirming inflation is converging towards that target in a sustainable manner, the bank's vice president told Slovak newspaper Hospodarske Noviny. "We are confident that this will happen this year, but there are still a number of uncertainties, particularly surrounding the geopolitical situation, that we need to take into account," Luis de Guindos said in an interview published on Wednesday. De Guindos also said that estimating the threat of U.S. President Donald Trump's economic policies to the ECB's inflation target was more difficult than how they would affect the global economy's growth prospects.

LONDON/COPENHAGEN (Reuters) -Obesity drug maker Novo Nordisk forecast slower growth this year after Wegovy sales more than doubled in the final quarter of 2024, with analysts and investors describing the results as "good enough" to ease nerves about stiff competition from rival Eli Lilly. The Danish company said it expects sales growth in local currencies to range between 16% and 24% in 2025, less than the 26% growth seen in 2024. Barclays analysts said in a note they were breathing a sigh of relief, describing the results and guidance as "good enough".
