Got plans for June? Boise Music Festival, Shakespeare Festival are back. And dads get love

Happy June! If you haven’t made plans for this month, get to it. There’s lots going on as summer arrives.

For starters, let’s get something on the books for dad on Father’s Day, June 19. The popular Downtown Boise car show is back for 2022 and features classic and electric cars. Or maybe your pops would enjoy a free round of mini-golf on the newly remodeled Hillbilly Hollow course at Wahooz Family Fun Zone.

Not only do we celebrate dads this month, but Alive After Five is back, y’all! And I don’t mean back for the season, but back from taking 2021 off due to the pandemic. A midweek break with beer, tunes and friends after work on Wednesdays — you were so missed.

Your social calendar is gonna rock other days of the week as well. Get ready for Tuesdays on the Creek in Caldwell, the Great Garden Escape series on Thursdays at Idaho Botanical Garden, and Sunday concerts at Ste. Chapelle Winery.

“Fancy Like” country artist Walker Hayes will perform at this year’s Boise Music Festival on Saturday, June 25.
“Fancy Like” country artist Walker Hayes will perform at this year’s Boise Music Festival on Saturday, June 25.

Plan for outdoor festivals. Boise Music Festival (June 25) is bringing country artists Lady A and Walker Hayes, in addition to pop acts. Families can enjoy the Emmett Cherry Festival (June 15-18) and Meridian Dairy Days (June 22-25). Road trip? Head to Cambridge for Hells Canyon Days on June 3-4.

And grab your blankets. Family-friendly outdoor movies start Friday, June 3, during Silver Screen on the Green at Optimist Park in Nampa. Also, Idaho Shakespeare Festival’s “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Ain’t Misbehavin’” have multiple performances this month.

Note: Check with event websites or social media before attending. Events might be canceled or postponed after press deadline because of the pandemic, or might have new rules in place regarding masks and proof of vaccination.
