Gordon Ramsay hits back at Strictly star daughter Tilly’s fat-shaming and says ‘I’m very proud of her’

Gordon Ramsey has backed his daughter Strictly Come Dancing star Tilly after a radio DJ fat-shamed her on his show.

Radio host Steve Allen has been urged to quit his LBC show after he described her as a “chubby little thing” live on air sparking a backlash from Tilly, 19, herself and horrified listeners.

Speaking for the first time about the comments, Gordon said: “It made me feel very proud that she stood up and said, ‘I’m not taking this.’

“She is 19-years of age for goodness sake – bursting her a**e off and attending university by Zoom and learning the most extraordinary moves with Nikita [Kuzmin].

“I think it was a breath of fresh air that level of standing up and saying, ‘We’re not going to tolerate that.’”

Speaking during an Instagram Live interview today, Gordon, 54, went on to talk about his own struggle with his weight.

He continued: “It is a very sensitive issue whether you are a girl or a guy.

“I am someone who has always struggled with their weight.

“I have to train, we eat all day. I pick, we graze, we are around food 24/7.

“If we don’t train I’d be 350-400 pounds – so all credit to her.”

Radio host Steve Allen has sent a private apology Tilly Ramsay after his comments it was revealed over the weekend.

Allen, 67, faced criticism after saying on LBC radio that he was “bored” with the 19-year-old’s performances on the BBC show and her physical appearance was probably to do with “her dad’s cooking”.

CBBC presenter Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon, hit back on social media, saying she “won’t tolerate people that think it’s OK to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone’s weight and appearance”.

On his radio show, Allen had read out a comment from a listener telling him the teenager is taking part in Celebrity MasterChef Australia.

He replied: “Is she? Well, she can’t blimming well dance, I’m bored with her already.

“She’s a chubby little thing, isn’t she? Have you noticed? Probably her dad’s cooking, I should imagine.”
