Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made a brutal joke at the expense of Emily in Paris at the Golden Globes.

The pair hosted the annual ceremony from two different locations – one in Los Angeles, the other in New York – with producers stitching them together so they could perform an opening monologue “side by side” for the broadcast.

While the majority of their skit was good natured, Fey and Poehler reserved the harshest joke for the Netflix comedy series, which was nominated for a few awards despite being a critical flop.

On Emily in Paris, Fey joked that she “couldn’t wait” to find out whether it’s a Musical or a Comedy, referencing the category it’s been nominated in.

She got in another dig while discussing a fellow nominated film.

French Exit is what I did after watching the first episode of Emily in Paris,” she quipped.

The camera then cut to the show’s lead star Lily Collins, who seemed confused that the show was getting a mauling – though that was perhaps down to a delay.

Elsewhere during the ceremony, many high-profile stars criticised the lack of diversity among the organisation’s voters, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPS), which hasn’t had a Black member for at least 20 years.

The evening’s most powerful speech came from Taylor Simone Ledward, the wife of the late Chadwick Boseman, who accepted his posthumous award for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
