Netflix's thriller series The Midnight Club is the latest creation from Mike Flanagan, who was also behind the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Haunting of Hill House.

The Midnight Club tells the story of a group of young adults with terminal illness living in a hospice together. At midnight they gather to share stories with each other. One night, they make a pact that whoever dies first, must return and contact the others from beyond the grave. When one of them does die, spooky occurrences start happening at the hospice.

The series was only released at the beginning of October and fans were dying to know if there was going to be a second season of the show. However, Netflix has now confirmed The Midnight Club has been cancelled after one season.

When was The Midnight Club cancelled?

Unfortunately Netflix has confirmed there will not be a second season of The Midnight Club.

The news comes at the same time it was revealed the show's creator Mike Flanagan had signed a new multi-year deal with Amazon Studios.

Fans of the show have been tweeting about their disappointment of the show being cancelled, with one person saying: "The Midnight Club on Netflix has been cancelled why does everything I love LEAVE ME."

And another said: "Of course THE MIDNIGHT CLUB gets cancelled a few hours after I start watching it…"

What have The Midnight Club cast said about the show being cancelled?

So far cast members Iman Benson, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, Annarah Cymone, Chris Sumpter, Adia, Aya Furukawa, and Sauriyan Sapkota have not spoken about the series cancellation.

Will we get answers for the cliffhangers at the end of season one?

The series finale of The Midnight Club season one ended with a lot of questions left unanswered. Will Sandra return now that it's been revealed her cancer was misdiagnosed? What significance will the tattoo on Georgina's head have? Will Shasta get out from behind bars? And are the creepy shadow and old lady real?

Though the series has now been cancelled we're still hoping we might get some answers to these questions. During a press conference for the show in October, series creator Mike Flanagan said they have answers for the cliffhangers at the end of season one and if the show wasn't renewed Flanagan said he may reveal them on Twitter.

Speaking during the press conference he said: "We also didn't answer some of the bigger questions of the season. Those answers exist, but were meant to be for the next season.

"If there isn't [another season], I'll put them up on Twitter. Then we'll at least all be able to talk about it."

Fingers crossed we get some answers!

The Midnight Club is available to watch on Netflix now.
