Gogglebox stars Dave and Shirley Griffiths had fans mistaking them for characters from The Sopranos recently, when they shared a throwback photo on social media.

The married pair – who are both now in their 60s – took to their joint Twitter account to post a candid snap of themselves, taken back when they were in their mid-20s, and joked about how they looked like they could be on the set of the hugely popular TV drama.

In the picture, Shirley can be seen sporting a red button-up top and dark, short hair, while Dave is wearing a black shirt underneath a silvery grey jacket.

While the Wales-based couple reckoned they resembled James Gandolfini and Edie Falco's James and Carmela, other followers claimed that they reminded them of The Gentle Touch's Jill Gascoine and Michael Sheen, back when he was in The Damned United.

Dave and Shirley, who joined Gogglebox in 2015, have previously revealed that they've been married for more than 45 years, so it's safe to assume that there are a lot more photos where that came from!

Gogglebox continues this Friday (April 16) at 9pm on Channel 4.
