Reality star Stephen had been cast in the 2024 series of the dancing show back in October but was ultimately forced to pull out after suffering a break to his left ankle during training just weeks later.
Speaking to The Sun about his husband's recovery, Daniel revealed that Stephen was "gutted" to miss out on the show after breaking his ankle in two places.
"Stephen's doing good. He's got his cast off now, and he's actually got a boot on for the next six weeks and then he'll get back to it," Daniel shared.
"He's gutted about Dancing on Ice, he was so excited... I think it's going to take a good year to get back to normal, with all the physio and stuff."
Daniel went on to share that "daredevil" Stephen hadn't been deterred from getting back on the ice and would love to take part in a future series of the ITV show.
"He definitely would give it a go [if ITV were to approach him again]," Daniel said.
Following Stephen's exit from Dancing on Ice, it was revealed that Olympic ski jumper Eddie Edwards would take his place in the competition.
"It's bittersweet, as whilst I'm delighted to be taking part in the new series, I'm gutted for Stephen and wish him a speedy recovery," Edwards said.
"Dancing on Ice is a show I've always wanted to do. It's a challenge I think I'm going to relish."
Dancing on Ice will return to ITV and ITVX in early 2024.
