Gogglebox star Paige Deville has quit the show.

The 25-year-old is known for appearing on the Channel 4 programme alongside her mum Sally.

In a statement on Twitter, Paige told her followers on Friday (September 17): "I have made the decision to walk away from Gogglebox.

"It's been an experience but one I cannot continue with due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions & zero aftercare support but hey who cares about ex cast, their NTA winners."

Channel 4 responded to the claims in a statement to Digital Spy saying: "The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series."

Paige and Sally joined the show in 2019. It's currently unclear if her mother will continue on the programme.

The show will be looking quite different when it returns to screens tonight on Channel 4.

Five stars have decided to step away from the programme following the deaths of some of its much-loved cast members, though it's thought the door has been left open for them to return in the future.

It was announced last month that Andy Michael had passed away aged 61, as well as Mary Cook, who was 92. Pete McGarry also passed away back in July.

Gogglebox executive producer Victoria Ray commented: "We have had people from the show pass away recently. We lost Mary and Andy. And a little while ago we lost Pete.

"Their loved ones won't be taking part in the show for the moment. Understandably, they want their privacy."

She added: "It's a massive loss in every way. We feel it too. We are still in touch with all the loved ones.

"We talk to them all the time. They are still part of the Gogglebox family. We are really close to all the people on the show, so what has happened has been really upsetting for the whole team."
