Godzilla Vs Kong first look arrives as release date is moved up

From Digital Spy

Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse is returning sooner than we thought, as Godzilla vs Kong has landed a new, earlier release date.

Originally set for a simultaneous premiere in select cinemas and on HBO Max this May, Deadline reports that the two towering Titans will now do battle on Friday, March 26 instead.

The movie will still be released in theatres and on HBO Max simultaneously, but we'll be seeing it earlier than expected.

Oh, and there's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it preview clip for the new film in Warner Bros' 2021 promo video above.

Lasting all of two seconds, this first-look footage shows the radioactive lizard baring down on his hairy enemy, who smashes his face in with an earthshaking fist.

It's awesome stuff, and will definitely get fans thirsty for more.

"In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity's fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages," the official synopsis reads.

"As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans' origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever."

Meanwhile, just over a year ago it was revealed that the movie may also feature MechaGodzilla, another one of Toho's iconic creatures. The excitement can now truly begin.

Godzilla vs Kong will premiere in theatres and on HBO Max on March 26 in the US. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K.
