The couple announced the news on Friday (October 15) with a sweet Instagram post which combined their baby news with their shared love of music.
"We've been making music for years. ...But this time we made a BEAT. The ultimate collab droppin Spring 2022," Darren wrote, alongside a photo of himself and Mia sitting in a recording studio holding guitars, with Mia biting her finger.
This snap was followed by a short audio clip of the baby's heartbeat and a picture of a scan, with the words 'Baby Von Criss dropping spring 2022' written across it.
Finally, Darren shared a video of himself and Mia looking at the heartbeat audio on a laptop screen, before both turn to the camera and Mia pulls her shirt open to reveal her growing baby bump.
The couple have received congratulatory messages from several of Darren's former Glee co-stars, with Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Heather Morris and Lea Michele all sharing their excitement over the news.
Westworld's Evan Rachel Wood wrote "SHUT UP" with a crying emoji, while The Punisher star Ben Barnes commented: "Woooaaahhh! Congratulations" and American Horror Story's Emma Roberts – who welcomed her baby son Rhodes at the beginning of the year – wrote: "Yay!!! Play dates!!!!!!" with a series of heart eye emojis.
Darren and Mia married in February 2019 after seven and a half years of dating.
Darren recently spilled on what he thinks the worst cover song ever performed on Glee was, joking that his chosen number is "conventionally understood as 'a huge oops f**k'", despite the fact that he enjoyed performing it because "it was so absurd".
"I had fun because it was ridiculous, but we were so deep into the show... we were so delirious from the absurdity of it," he said. "The more absurd it is, the funnier it is to me."
