Gisele Bündchen wishes Tom Brady well after second NFL retirement announcement

Tom Brady announced his retirement — for a second time — on Wednesday and was applauded by many throughout the sports world for his accomplishments on the field.

"Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream," Brady said in a video posted to his social media. "I wouldn't change a thing. Love you all."

His ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, had a heartfelt message for the seven-time Super Bowl champion.

"Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life," she commented on Brady's Instagram post with a praying hands emoji.

The couple divorced in October after 13 years of marriage. They have two children together.

Prior to their breakup, Bündchen shared how the intensity of Brady's football career put a strain on their marriage.

"This is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present," she said in September to Elle Magazine. "I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again."

Brady previously retired a year ago to the day from his second announcement, citing his inability to fully commit to the sport he loves.

"I have always believed the sport of football is an 'all-in' proposition – if a 100% competitive commitment isn't there, you won't succeed, and success is what I love so much about our game," Brady said. "There is a physical, mental and emotional challenge EVERY single day that has allowed me to maximize my highest potential. ... I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention."

He changed his mind and returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a month later. He finished the 2022 season with an 8-9 record and was knocked out of the playoffs in the wild-card round by the Dallas Cowboys.
