Gigi Hadid shares first look at growing baby bump - and reveals why she's kept pregnancy private

Gigi Hadid is showing off her growing baby bump for the first time.

The supermodel, who is expecting her first child with "One Direction" alum Zayn Malik, has been relatively mum about her pregnancy throughout quarantine, but that changed Wednesday.

"There's my belly y'all," Hadid, 25, said as she flashed a profile of her bump during an Instagram Live video promoting her new journal with V Magazine. "Like, it's there."

Hadid assured her curious fans that she's "all good and safe" and that her pregnancy is "going great," despite the fact that she's not showcasing her journey to motherhood to her 55 million Instagram followers.

"Obviously, I think a lot of people are confused why I'm not sharing more, but like, I'm pregnant through a pandemic," Hadid said, adding, "my pregnancy is not the most important thing going on in the world."

The supermodel said the coronavirus pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement (BLM) are more deserving of everyone's attention instead of her pregnancy.

"That's a reason that I felt that it's not really something that I need to share, apart from with my family and friends. Obviously a lot of people have lost lives due to coronavirus that was in the beginning of quarantine and still happening," Hadid said. "And then we moved obviously into the reemergence of the BLM movement, and I thought that our presence on social media should be used for that."

That doesn't mean her fans will never get a peek at Hadid's pregnancy. The supermodel revealed that she will share pictures of her growing belly "in the future" when the time is right.

"I have been taking a lot of pictures of my bump and sending it to friends and family and it's been really cute and exciting," she said. "I'm trying to document it well because I've heard a lot of people say obviously, 'make sure you don't miss it.'"

Hadid added that staying out of the public eye has allowed her to fully enjoy her pregnancy without having to worry about her appearance or "having to like, look cute."

"Obviously, you know, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms," Hadid said, "but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well-wishes and support."

Hadid said her impending bundle of joy with Malik, 27, is a bright side to quarantining : "Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together and really experience it."
