Gigi Hadid Just Allowed a Rare Glimpse of Daughter Khai on Instagram

On Sunday, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Hadid posted a few pictures of her granddaughter Khai Hadid Malik on Instagram.

Khai is the baby of model Gigi Hadid and musician Zayn Malik, and she rarely makes any kind of appearance on social media or in paparazzi images. The collection of images showed Khai with her grandma on what looks like a farm celebrating the toddler's first birthday.

“Happy first birthday to our Angel Khai….” Yolanda captioned the series. “No words can express how much love and joy you have brought into our lives in just one year…I had to grow a whole other heart to absorb it all, you are such a magical little being that brings us smiles and blessings everyday. Thank you to your incredible mamma @gigihadid and bubba @zayn for the greatest gift of life!!”

Without showing one-year-old Khai's face, the pictures feature her helping Yolanda feed a baby cow, pet a tiny goat, and ride a pony. Each photo is more painfully cute than the last.

Part of the reason Khai isn't often seen on social media is that Gigi has been very public about not wanting her daughter to have a public image before she even understands what that means. In July this year, she posted an open letter to photographers everywhere about taking pictures of kids.

“I know the laws change State to State, and I've seen some paparazzi photos of kids in NYC with their faces blurred- but, from asking around, I believe that that comes down to the integrity of the photographer, publication, or fans sharing the images,” Hadid wrote. “I write this all to say: to the Paparazzi, press, and beloved fan accounts, you know we have never intentionally shared our daughters face on social media. Our wish is that she can choose how to share herself with the world when she comes of age, and that she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen.

“It would mean the world to us, as we take our daughter to see and explore NYC, and the world, if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, and if and when she is caught on camera, I know it's an extra effort, but as a new mom, I just want the best for my baby, as all parents do.”
