Water and wastewater rates

Gananoque's water and wastewater operating and capital budget rates bylaw was amended recently to add in a quarterly fee of $250 for utility accounts for owners who have not complied with the water meter replacement program.

Gananoque Royals Hockey

The Gananoque Royals Hockey League received a $2,500 Community Grant towards the cost of purchasing hockey socks for all players.

According to staff’s reports, the Gananoque Royals Girls Hockey League applied for $5,322 toward the purchase of new hockey socks for all members. In 2021, the organization received a community grant for $5,000 for new jerseys.

While this application meets the grant criteria, the group, having received a $5,000 grant, is only eligible for $2,500 under the community grant policy. The group has submitted its application for a seven per cent subsidy on its 2023-2024 ice fees.

Supply and delivery of road salt

The Town of Gananoque has awarded D-Squared Construction Ltd. its latest contract for the supply and delivery of road salt.

D-Squared Construction Ltd. has been in the material handling industry for nearly 20 years and is operated out of Greely, ON.

Appointment

Robert George was recently appointed to Gananoque's Tourism Advisory Panel, replacing Natalie Robertson.

Rural Ontario Municipal Association

Gananoque Mayor John Beddows and another councillor to be determined later have been authorized to register for the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) 2024 annual conference in Toronto from Jan. 21-23.

An upset limit of $3,200 was pre-approved in the 2024 conference budget for registration, accommodations and mileage.

Call for singers

Gananoque is looking for interested individuals or groups to sing the national anthem during council meetings.

Meetings take place on the first and third of every month at 6 p.m. This is open to people of all ages.
