On this episode of 1K Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) helps Nick upgrade his bedroom to a more “adult” space. Brooklynite Nick, who is an avid gamer, initially set up his bedroom to function as a studio for his gaming streams. Nick still games, but he’s looking for his room to be more of a bedroom and less of a gaming room. With Nick’s blessing to “get rid of anything” as well as a budget of $1,000, can Will press start on a new chapter for Nick and help this gamer take his room to the next level? Let’s find out!
Will starts off by adding a half wall of dark green paint throughout the room, which helps the room feel “cozy, but not too dark.” A green faded Persian area rug serves as an upscale, homey centerpiece, which helps establish Will’s vision of “fusing vintage-inspired pieces with modern sensibilities.”
All good gamers need a good night’s sleep, so Will adds an upholstered bed, which is accented by a 2-drawer nightstand on each side. Sitting atop each nightstand is a striking-yet-subtle ambient globe lamp, which combines chic design with convenience.
Will replaces Nick’s gaming-themed art and poster collection with stylish, modern-inspired wall pieces, and spruces things up with some floor plants and pottery. Woven linen curtains over the windows match the color scheme of the room perfectly, while complementing the room’s natural light.
Upon entering his new room Nick is thrilled by Will’s work! He especially loves the painted walls and the bed setup. Nick also likes that Will was able to keep his desk, while ensuring that it can be used for more than gaming. “I’m honestly shocked by how well it all goes together,” says Nick. “I’m blown away, speechless, all of the above.”
