Gamecocks hold back FSU attack, finish in draw vs. No. 1 Seminoles
The No. 12 South Carolina women’s soccer team battled No. 1 Florida State to a 0-0 draw Thursday night at Stone Stadium in the season opener for both teams.
Gamecocks senior goalkeeper Heather Hinz kept the Seminoles scoreless with six saves. The Seminoles controlled the ball for 71% of the game and had an 18-7 overall shot advantage.
It was the South Carolina program’s first tie against a No. 1 team.
USC finished with seven shots — Shae O’Rourke, Riane Coman and Eveleen Hahn had the team’s three shots on goal.
NEXT: The Gamecocks host East Carolina at 2 p.m. Sunday. The game will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
