‘Game of Thrones’ themed pop-up event coming to The Whippersnapper bar in Dallas

Winter may not be coming to North Texas anytime soon, but a “Game of Thrones” pop-up event is.

The popular fantasy television series “Game of Thrones” wrapped up its eight-season run in 2019, but fans will soon venture back into the fictional world of Westeros when the spinoff series “House of the Dragon” premieres on HBO and its streaming channel HBO Max later this month.

Just in time to celebrate the new series, The Whippersnapper in Dalla will transform into Whipper Fell from Aug. 25 to Oct. 15. In “Game of Thrones”, Winterfell is a castle home to one of the Great Houses: House Stark.

The pop-up event lasts for eight weeks and gives fans the opportunity to try themed drinks and food, take photos with “Game of Thrones” characters, enjoy nightly entertainment, see mural work by local artists and take part in an immersive experience. Fans are encouraged to dress up in costume and take photos sitting on a replica of the Iron Throne.

Here are a few of the themed drinks:

  • Westeros Ale — A 40-ounce high life for $10.

  • Mother of Dragons — Teremana Tequila, jalapeno, lime, lemon, simple syrup and garnished with a dragon for $12.

  • White Walker — Enchanted blueberry vodka, simple syrup, lime, ginger beer and two blue jelly beans for $12.

  • Unsullied — Jim Beam, red wine simple syrup and angostura bitters for $12.

  • Iron Throne — Hendricks gin, cucumber/basil simple syrup, cranberry and garnished with a sword of cucumber for $12.

  • Kings Blood — The Beach rose wine, peach Smirnoff, pineapple and cranberry served in a copper mug for $12.

  • Milk of the Poppy — RumHaven coconut rum, rum chata and cold brew for $12.

And themed food options are:

  • Dothraki burger — Double meat patty, two slices of cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and special sauce on a white bun for $8.

  • Dragon Claws — Four chicken strips served with honey mustard for $8.

  • Wing and Tail sandwich — Roasted herb turkey, avocado, tomato, cucumber, bacon and lemon aioli on wheat bread for $9.

  • Little Fingers and Dragon Eggs — Choice of fries or tater tots for $4.

There’s no cover for the bar, and reservations will be accepted after 10 p.m. for seating areas — with a food and beverage requirement for those spaces. Must be 21 years old to enter the bar.

The Whippersnapper is open Wednesday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at 1806 McMillan Ave. in Dallas. The new series “House of the Dragon” is based on author George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood” series and is set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones”, telling the story of House Targaryen and premieres on HBO and HBO Max on Aug. 21.
