Gal Gadot addresses her surprise Fast X return

Fast X spoilers follow.

Gal Gadot has addressed her surprise appearance in Fast X, saying the timing “just felt right" to return to the franchise.

The actress reprised her role as Gisele Yashar in the final scene for the latest film, marking her first involvement in the series since 2013’s Fast & Furious 6, in which her character was presumed dead.

The star has since gone onto greater fame by fronting the Wonder Woman series, but revealed to Total Film Magazine that she owed a debt to the racing-turned-action franchise.

“Fast [& Furious] was the first feature I'd ever done as an actress. They were the ones to give me my first opportunity, my first break in Hollywood,” she said (via GamesRadar). “And I'm forever grateful for that. And they're a community. They're like family. We still keep in touch. They have a special place in my heart and it's very exciting.

“I think that the Fast Saga... they manage to create a huge, incredible, loyal fanbase like no one else. I've seen it nowhere [else], you know? And my love to them, and the love from the fans, and my love to the fans, it just felt right this time. And it's very exciting."

Fast X, which has performed modestly at the box office so far, is the first part of a proposed trilogy which will cap off the main franchise, with lead star Vin Diesel revealing last month that producers had opted to greenlight an extra film.

“Without giving away too much I can say this. Going into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter,” he said. “And after the studio saw this part one, they said, 'Could you make Fast X the finale, a trilogy?’”

The direct sequel to Fast X, which could see Dwayne Johnson reprise his role as Luke Hobbs, is currently expected to hit cinemas in April 2025.

Fast X is now playing in US and UK cinemas.
