Gabriel Jesus shirt number: Arsenal confirm new £45m signing will wear No9 at the Emirates
Arsenal have confirmed Gabriel Jesus’ squad number after finally announcing his £45million arrival from Manchester City.
The 25-year-old has penned a five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium, becoming Mikel Arteta’s fourth arrival of the summer transfer window after deals for Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira.
After passing a medical, Jesus has been handed the No9 shirt at Arsenal, recently vacated by Alexandre Lacazette following the latter’s return to former club Lyon on a free transfer.
Previously, the shirt has been worn by the likes of Lucas Perez, Lukas Podolski, Chu-young Park, Eduardo and Julio Baptista.
Jesus will compete with Eddie Nketiah for a starting berth in Arteta’s attack, while he is also capable of operating in wider positions.
